This Is from Wells FargoUnion Plus is the Benefit arm of AFL-CIO and provides over 40 consumer benefits to Union Members and their families.
Union members and their spouses and children and parents receive a $500 store card when they purchase a new home or refinance their current home through Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. This card will be received about 6 weeks after closing. The merchant list is extensive and has retailers like Target, Macys, Lowes etc. If a person is an active or retired member and bought their home through the Union Plus program they are eligible for a $500 First Time Home Award – this is a check in the amount of $500.00. Members have to complete an application and provide a short, (no more than 500 words) written description of their experience with the Union Plus Mortgage process and what owning a first home means to them. The application has to be received 30 and 90 days after the closing date. (Please note, this is only for active or retired union members not their children or parents) If a borrower on a Union Plus Loan (Parents, children, spouses and domestic partners are covered if their income was used in qualifying the loan) has had their mortgage for a year or more and experiences income loss due to unemployment, disability, strike or lockout they could be eligible for Mortgage Assistance from Union Plus – this benefit comes in the form of interest free loans and grants to help make mortgage payments.
