News from the BRTA
I received this from the Bronxville Retired Teachers Association about an event featuring one of our retirees and his wife:
On Wednesday, May 22, Andy and Jane Cahn will be making a presentation on their trip to the Arctic. Last year they presented on their voyage to the Antarctic and it was very well received. We meet in the Eastchester Public Library at 7PM. The presentation will begin around 7:15. Please come to chat with some of your fellow retirees and to support the work the Cahns have done to prepare for the evening. Last year some of us went out for a brief get-together after the presentation was over at 8:30PM.
Christina Reidel, Lisa Britvan, and Mandy Gersten went to Assemblywoman Amy Paulin's office to talk to her about testing and about the deleterious effect of the tax cap.
Thank you for representing us.
There is another NYSUT lobbying event at State Senator George Latimer's office on Friday, May 3. Is anyone interested in representing the BTA there?

Honoring our retirees and the end of a successful school year.
NYSUT's lobbying efforts include, this year, an in-district lobbying day. Speaking with our elected representatives about issues important to teachers and education is essential.
Therefore, there are two meetings set up with elected representatives at their district offices.
The first is Thursday, April 18 at 6:30 at State Senator George Latimer's office in Yonkers. Latimer is a key player on the Senate Education Committee and has alway been a legislator who listens to our point of view on critical issues. If you are available to be part of this lobbying effort, please let me know.
Christina Reidel and I are going to Assemblywoman Amy Paulin's Scarsdale office immediately after school on Friday. If anyone else would like to join us, please let me know.
Please let me know of important happenings in the lives of BTA members, so that I can print them in the BTA NEWS from time to time.
