Bronxville Retiree Miriam Leo is called out as a favorite teacher in a Westchester Magazine letter to the editor... Click here for the letter. VOTE/COPE is a non-partisan political action fund that raises money through voluntary contributions of NYSUT members to support candidates and campaign committees that are pro-public education and pro-labor.
The members of the BTA have historically been among the state's greatest supporters of VOTE/COPE, which says a great deal about our commitment to public education. Please increase your contribution by at least 25 cents per paycheck. Karin Coons has agreed to lead the VOTE/COPE drive again this year. She'll be contacting every member who is not giving at least $5 per paycheck and asking for an increase. Please support public education by helping NYSUT support pro-education candidates. Please contribute to the PTA. They do so much for our school and our students. The support of the teachers is essential. Put $10 in one of those envelopes you got with your directory, and hand it to Frank Viggiani or Pam Kohlhoff or Michael Mari or go to the PTA's on-line page to join.
As you know, NYSUT and AFT have endorsed Barack Obama for president. I am going to pick up Obama yard signs from NYSUT early next week. Let me know if you'd like one.
What a beautiful day it was for a walk!
Thanks for walking: Donna Bianco, Julia Brogan, Stephanie Grohowski, Pam Kohlhoff, and Jackie Frawley. Thanks, especially, to Jacki I'm walking. Are you?
The Bronxville Teachers' Association can make a great showing at the Making Strides Walk. Will you join us? Please sign up to walk and/or make a donation to the American Cancer Society. Donna Bianco is spearheading the BTA's participation in the walk again this year with help from Denise Napolitano and Julia Brogan. Please mark Sunday, October 21st on your calendar and make plans to join the BTA team at Manhattanville College. The BTA still needs a representative from the high school for the PTA (thanks Mike Mari and Pam Kohlhoff for representing the middle and elementary schools).
We also need two more representatives to the safety committee. Let me know that you are interested. |
