This overview of the Common Core State Standards explores the historical perspective of its formation and the overall shifts for mathematics instruction including focus and coherence. (3hours)

This seminar will model and investigate several conditions that are integral to an effectively managed classroom. (2 hours)

This overview of the APPR requirements for teachers explores the components of a teacher’s evaluation using the NYS Teaching Standards, NYSUT Teacher Practice Rubric, teacher effectiveness rating categories and composite score information. (3 hours)
The IEP: Supporting Student Instruction – October 16th
Being a school-related professional in today’s society requires many skills to become an integral part of school-wide success. In this seminar, participants will become familiar with the special education process terms/concepts, and learn what is in an
IEP by seeing how it influences an SRPs role in supporting
student instruction. (2 hours)
Discipline Strategies – October 21st
This seminar takes a comprehensive look at student-centered discipline and a plan of action for teachers who wish to establish a positive classroom learning environment. Teachers learn how to set expectations and design strategies to prevent discipline problems from occurring. (2 hours)
Common Core & ELLs: Instructional Implications and
Recommendations – October 23rd
English language learners (ELLs) are the fastest growing student demographic, and they must be taken into account when the Common Core is being implemented. This seminar will address the impact of new standards on ELLs, supports needed to meet the standards, strategies and resources for helping ELLs succeed, and the roles for teachers and educators of ELLs in the era of new standards and teacher evaluation. (3 hours)
